Trust

How we pick spots.

Cravd has two kinds of tiers. The guides on cravd.io, which we research and write. And the tiers in the app, which come from the people who ate there. Here’s how each one works.

The guides

How a guide gets made

  1. 01

We start from what's already been said.

Published reviews from outlets like What's On, Time Out Dubai, The National and the Michelin Guide, plus Google, Zomato and Tripadvisor ratings.

  2. 02

We weigh it all against value.

A spot has to earn its price.

  3. 03

An S has to hold up.

It means the reputation holds up across sources.

  4. 04

A C comes with a reason you can check.

Usually value. We never make up a complaint to fill a tier.

  5. 05

    We show our working.

Where a take leans on diner ratings more than a written review, the guide says so. Every guide lists its sources and the month it was last reviewed.

The app

How tiers work in the app

  1. 01

A tier is one person's call after a meal.

    S, A, B or C, posted as a Cravd.

  2. 02

A spot's tier is the average of its Cravds.

The more people rate it, the more that tier means.

  3. 03

    Your friends come first.

On a restaurant's page, the tiers from people you follow show before everyone else's.

Not sure what separates an A from a B? Here’s what each tier means.

Money

Tiers can't be bought

Not in a guide, and not in the app. Every paid placement will follow four public rules, starting with this one: money never changes a tier. Read how sponsorship works.
