Dubai Burger Guide
The Best Burger in Dubai, Rated Honestly
Here’s the thing about the best burger in Dubai: it’s probably not the one you’ve heard of. The famous, Instagram-heavy names tend to coast on a view or a brand, while the burgers real diners actually rank highest are homegrown and under-hyped.

So we didn’t guess. We cross-checked a reader poll of real burger votes, the critics (Time Out, Gault&Millau), and a scored head-to-head taste test, then rated each spot S to C. Where a big name is coasting, we say so. Where a sleeper deserves the crown, it gets it.
As cravd testers rate these in the app, their honest tiers show up here too, from people you actually trust.
The short answer
Top of the list right now: Smash and Sear @ Maxzi and Orfali Bros (OB Cheeseburger). Below is the full honest ranking, S to C, drawn from real diner reviews.

Two burgers earned S because the evidence converged: Maxzi is the only spot both critics crowned and the public voted near the top, and Orfali Bros posted a perfect score in a head-to-head taste test. There’s no D tier: if a spot were worse than fine, it wouldn’t be here.
The picks, ranked
- S · Legendary
Smash and Sear @ Maxzi
Al Quoz + JVC
The rare pick the critics and the crowd agree on. A repeat critics’ favourite that was also voted number two in the city’s biggest reader poll. Wagyu smash patties, a squidgy potato bun, a grocery-shop sleeper that became the standard.
The all-round championMid - S · Legendary
Orfali Bros (OB Cheeseburger)
Wasl 51
It’s a Michelin-recognised bistro whose cheeseburger topped Dubai’s toughest head-to-head taste test, beating every dedicated burger spot. If you can get a table, it is arguably the best patty in the city.
The taste-test winnerMid - A · Excellent
Jun’s
Downtown Dubai
The Jalapeño Onion Wagyu scored 9.5/10 in the taste test: a double wagyu patty with dense umami and just enough heat. A proper restaurant burger from one of Dubai’s most respected kitchens.
Wagyu, done rightMid - A · Excellent
Eleven Green
Al Wasl
The critics’ repeat pick, with a string of best-burger nods including The National’s “best in Dubai,” and a much-decorated Bull Burger (cheddar, bacon jam, bull sauce). The hype is, unusually, earned.
The critics’ repeat winnerMid - A · Excellent
11 Woodfire
Dubai Design District
A Michelin spot whose wood-fired wagyu burger scored 9/10: brioche, mushroom, a little sriracha, and real smoke behind it. Not cheap, but the cooking is the point.
Wagyu and woodfireSplurge - A · Excellent
High Joint
Al Manara + Al Khawaneej
The value knockout: 8.5/10 in the taste test at just AED 39, described as “perfectly balanced, zero pretense.” USDA prime beef dry-aged in-house, and the “High Jamz” (bacon jam and crispy onions) is the cult order. A homegrown hole-in-the-wall doing it properly.
Best value, zero pretenseValue - A · Excellent
JUBN
Multiple locations
The people’s champion, the runaway #1 in the reader poll by a wide margin, with diners calling the Texas Beef and Nashville burgers “simply the best.” A grassroots champion the critics haven’t caught up to yet.
The people’s #1Value - A · Excellent
Meat Avenue
Multiple
The underdog of the taste test: a smashed Angus that scored 8.75/10 at AED 55, with US-sourced dry-aged flavour. Quietly one of the best-value serious burgers in the city.
The underdog smashValue - B · Good
Pickl
JLT + citywide
The reliable homegrown chain: hormone-free beef, a loved soft bun, deep local loyalty, and a verifiable 4.1 to 4.4 across thousands of reviews. Held at B by two real knocks: it can run greasy, and quality wobbles between branches and orders.
The reliable chainValue - B · Good
SALT
Kite Beach + citywide
An icon with an S-tier setting and a B-tier slider. Real reviewers keep landing on “McDonald’s size and quality at a premium,” and it didn’t crack the reader poll’s top burgers. Go for the beach and the Burj view, just know what you’re paying for.
The beach iconMid - B · Good
Burger & Lobster
DIFC
The burger is fine and the house sauce carries it, but this is a lobster house, and the real, repeated complaint is the “Dubai tax” on prices that run cheaper in London and New York. The lobster roll is the reason to come.
If lobster’s the real pointSplurge - B · Good
Klay
Dubai Mall
The viral one: a smash patty in a buttery paratha bun with karak chai, genuinely different and TikTok-famous. Also genuinely oily (the bun makes it inherent), and it hasn’t been around long enough to prove itself. A fun must-try-once more than a proven great.
The viral paratha bunValue - C · Fine
Five Guys
Citywide
A decent burger with a value problem real diners won’t stop mentioning: “Five rich guys,” AED 130 for two burgers, a small fries and a drink. The free peanuts and generous fries don’t close the gap. Fine, overpriced, coasting on the US name.
The US-chain taxMid - C · Fine
Shake Shack
Citywide
The clearest “coasting on hype” case. The Angus patty is a real step above other fast-casual chains, but Dubai pricing runs well above the US original and sentiment leans “overrated for what it is.” Fine in a pinch, never a destination.

Best value burger in Dubai
You do not need to spend big for the best. High Joint (AED 39) scored 8.5/10 in a scored taste test and beat burgers costing double. Meat Avenue (AED 55) and Pickl (around AED 32) are the other value-serious picks, and JUBN, the reader poll’s #1, sits firmly in the affordable lane. Price and quality are barely correlated in Dubai’s burger scene, and some of the best are the cheapest.
The famous ones, rated honestly
The names you already know are not the answer. SALT’s slider rides its Kite Beach setting more than its patty. Five Guys and Shake Shack draw near-universal “brand tax” complaints: good burgers at poor value for Dubai. And Prime68’s cult burger is barely reviewed on its own merits. It’s a superb 68th-floor steakhouse where the view does the heavy lifting. It is the same pattern in our best pizza in Dubai guide, where the hotel pies charge a room rate for the postcode.
One to watch: Junk Smash Burgers opened in late 2025 with real pedigree and viral buzz. Too new to rank with conviction yet, and firmly on the watchlist.
Smash or classic: which style Dubai does best
Dubai’s best burgers split into two camps, and knowing which you want narrows the list fast. The smash camp is thin patties pressed hard on a hot griddle for crispy, lacy edges: High Joint, Pickl, JUBN and Meat Avenue live here, and it is where the value sits. The classic camp is a thicker, juicier gourmet patty built for depth: Maxzi and the much-decorated Bull Burger lead it, and Orfali Bros’ taste-test winner is a chef-driven take on the same idea.
The honest read is that Dubai executes smash better than gourmet right now. The griddle style is cheaper to do well, the city’s best-value picks are all smash, and the reader-poll and taste-test winners skew that way too. If you only remember one thing: order the smash and you rarely go wrong.
Which of these travel for delivery
A burger that’s brilliant in the restaurant can arrive soggy, so delivery changes the ranking. Smash burgers are the most fragile: the thin patty steams inside a sealed box and the crispy edge goes limp by the time it reaches you. The builds that hold up are the ones with a thicker patty and components that don’t sit in the bun for twenty minutes, which is where the gourmet camp quietly wins back some ground.
The practical move is to eat the smash picks in person and lean on the sturdier gourmet burgers when you’re ordering in. Whatever you choose, save it in cravd first so the spot is one tap away next time the craving hits, and so your friends see which ones actually earned it.
Also worth a bite
A few more that real diners and critics rate but didn’t make the main list: 3Fils (its Wagyu Overload is a waterfront critic darling, 8.5/10 in the taste test), Slaw (a homegrown wagyu “burger boutique,” better value than its premium branding suggests), Darky’s (a reader-poll top-three grassroots favourite), and Wilder and Manna for the Jumeirah crowd.
Head to head
Homegrown vs the big chains
Price and quality are barely correlated. Some of the best are the cheapest.
Frequently asked
What is the best burger in Dubai?
By the evidence, two. Smash and Sear @ Maxzi is the spot critics and the public both rank at the top, and the OB Cheeseburger at Orfali Bros topped a head-to-head taste test. For a dedicated burger joint you can just walk into, Maxzi is the pick.
What is the best cheap burger in Dubai?
High Joint at around AED 39. It scored 8.5/10 in a taste test and beat burgers costing twice as much. Meat Avenue and Pickl are the other strong value picks, and JUBN, the reader poll’s #1, is also affordable.
Is Five Guys or Shake Shack worth it in Dubai?
Both are decent but draw consistent “brand tax” complaints, noticeably pricier than the US originals for what you get. Real diners overwhelmingly point to homegrown spots like Maxzi, High Joint and JUBN as better burgers for the money.
Are these rankings sponsored?
No. Nobody paid to be on this list. Tiers are built from real reader votes, critic reviews and a scored taste test, and community tiers from actual app users layer in over time.
